Jane Espenson, writer for Battlestar Galactica, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse, Game of Thrones, Torchwood: Miracle Day, Caprica, and Once Upon a Time, and co-creator of Warehouse 13.
Greg Rucka, comics author of Whiteout, who's written for Batman, Wonder Woman, Batwoman, and a bunch of other superhero comics.
Gail Simone, creator of the Women in Refrigerators list, writer of the recent Wonder Woman series most acclaimed by actual women.

Programming has only just started to be announced; I'll make a post on events of fannish interest when there's more listed.

Cheapest con ever

  • Only $35 for admission!
  • For extra cheapness, you can sleep on my floor, 1.5 nice urban walkable miles from the con (offer limited to 8 people, after that, we run out of water for showers)
  • In downtown Seattle: direct light rail trip from the airport, walking distance from the train station

Represent

  • We're a female-dominated community full of geeks. What better fit for GeekGirlCon?

What do you geek on? Likely official programming:

  • Female creators in media (Jane Espenson, writer on a shit-ton of shows, is a guest)
  • Female media characters
  • Women in gaming
  • Women in science and tech
  • Women in comics
  • Steampunk
  • Cosplay
  • Geeky crafts

Meetups and our unofficial programming

  • Friday night fan get together if there's no official programming announced for that night
  • Sunday night closing party at my place
  • If I can find four people who want (and can pay $120 for the weekend) to stay there, we can rent an apartment 2 blocks from the event and have a home base for our own constant room party, watch party, and/or unofficial alternative programming track

I'm so excited about Geek Girl Con this year! I wasn't able to go last year and I heard it was lots of fun, with panels and events about a huge diversity of topics.

I want fandom to represent there this year! The transformative fan community is one of the only areas of geekdom that's actually dominated by women. So even if there don't turn out to be any panels on us, we should be there.

So who is going/considering going?
